CADRA Board of Advisors
The Board of Advisors is a diverse group of outstanding leaders who serve as ambassadors and advisors for the Canada-Africa Development and Relief Agency. Members help carry the CADRA message to new and wide-ranging audiences to enhance the organization's profile, resources, and effectiveness.
Purpose and Conditions of Membership
- Membership in the board of advisors shall be limited to persons who can provide CADRA with experience and assistance in issues pertaining to the organization, and to whom the board of directors can turn for advice and support in business and legal matters.
- All members of the board of advisors shall hold the same position, as honorary advisors to the organization.
Responsibilities of Advisors

Members of the board of advisors shall have no direct responsibilities, duties, or influence on the organization's policies. Advisors shall therefore have no legal or formal responsibilities.
Length of Terms
- Advisors shall be appointed for one-year terms, renewable annually at the discretion of the board of directors.
- Advisors may step down at any time by sending a letter of resignation to the board of directors.
Revocation of Membership
- An advisor may be required to resign from the board at any time, for any reason, by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the board of directors.
Meetings of the Board of Advisors
- Scheduled meetings may take place with six months notice at the discretion of the board of directors, but at any time (depending on the availability of both parties), a director may consult with an advisor for advice regarding an issue in which that advisor has particular expertise.
Nomination of Advisors
- Any of the following individuals may be nominated for appointment to the board of advisors by a members or director of CADRA. Appointments must be ratified by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the board of directors.
- an individual that has made an outstanding contribution to the organization;
- a former member of the board of directors;
- an individual that has made significant financial contribution to CADRA;
- a representative from a corporation that has made a significant financial contribution to CADRA;
- an individual that has made a substantial gift-in-kind of business or other services to the organization;
f. an individual deemed appropriate by the board of directors.
