A New Age for Africa

Creating new strategies and concrete sustainable actions

The continent of Africa is experiencing an increasingly serious economic crisis - an alarming rate of land degradation - and a deplorable poverty level. Conditions in many African countries are worse today than they were 5 decades ago.

The African Problems

Many observers think that the African problems are intractable;
Others think that the future of Africa is loss of hope;
Some believe that the African problems must be handled by Africans.

Overall, there are tendencies to conclude that neo-colonialism, corruption, lack of vision, negligence and tardy response to the acute poverty in many parts of Africa, are the causes for the conditions of despair that we see today.

The debate over the lack of sustainable development efforts in many parts of Africa may not be conclusive, but we at Canada-Africa Development and Relief Agency (CADRA) recognize that many countries in Africa risk a tragic future if new strategies and concrete sustainable actions are not immediately put in place.

A Different Approach

CADRA was created out of concern for the alarming poverty level and the total lack of sustainable development efforts in Africa. This lack of development efforts calls for a different approach to help relieve poverty on the continent.

CADRA provides a viable alternative to traditional development aid in Africa by promoting local, comprehensive programs which will integrate:

  • Poverty Relief,
  • Agricultural and Natural Resources,
  • Education,
  • Healthcare,
  • Water and Housing,
  • Women in Development, and
  • The Environment.

Today's Africa

The second largest continent, Africa is home to nearly 900 million people in 54 countries, with over 1,000 ethnic groups - and even more languages and dialects. This rich ethnic, cultural and historical mix offers one of the greatest opportunities and challenges for developmental initiatives. To thrive in the 21st century, development in Africa must at once respect local cultures, bridge national differences, and meet global standards.

Africa is a neglected continent

Africa has suffered for so many years because of the lack of support from the West. Many Western governments, including Canada, give to governments in Africa but the poor and needy people, the citizens of those countries, never get the benefits. The unfortunate fact is that most of these Western countries know that the aid given does not reach the poor and needy people but they keep giving the money.

Attitudinal Change

CADRA believes that if there is to be a change in Africa, that change will come as a result of an attitudinal change towards Africa. Canadians must stop talking about what is wrong with Africa and start dedicating themselves to freeing Africa from political, economical and moral slavery. We know several things are wrong with Africa but talking and complaining alone will not solve any problem.

LET US STOP TALKING AND START ACTING!

We call upon all interested Canadians to help support the mission of CADRA. Together, we can do it!

What have you done lately for Africa?

CADRA believes that many Western nations, including Canada, have a moral duty to support Africa.

Whenever the West has had an interest in Africa, it has always been in the area of economics: "what can we make?"

It is a fact that Africa has been raped in so many ways by Western companies and governments. IT IS NOW TIME TO HELP HER HEAL.

That healing process will take a long time but it must begin with ME. What have you done lately for Africa?
