Our Budget is Impossibly Small
Canada-Africa Development and Relief Agency (CADRA) has always struggled to carry on its work with the absolute minimum of resources. We organize our campaigns, plan our actions and intervene to assist people living in absolute poverty on a monthly budget of less than $120,000. That means that we run an office, do our outreach, organize our work and events and pay program coordinators on a budget most development and social agencies would regard as impossibly small.
Our Operating Expenses
If you are a regular CADRA supporter, you will know that every so often we hit the wall and have to issue urgent appeals to help us pay the rent and pay our program coordinators. This happens because our operating costs are about $120,000 a month and our regular, monthly donations are well below $30,000. We make up an unpredictable portion of this shortfall through a trickle of one time donations but these are never enough to keep us from periodic crisis and desperate appeals.
Seeking Additional Monthly Pledges
We want to increase our monthly sustaining support so that we know we have enough coming in for us to pay our bills. So, we are seeking an additional $111,000 in monthly pledges. CADRA works on a broad front to mobilize communities in Africa under attack to resist the poverty agenda that they face. We do so on a very modest budget and we are appealing for help in ensuring that this small amount is something we can count on in order to operate properly.

If you would like to support our sustainer funding drive, send a voided cheque to Canada-Africa Development and Relief Agency, 372 Rideau Street, Suite 216, Ottawa, Ontario K1N 1G7 along with a note letting us know how much you would like transferred from your bank account into ours each month. If your financial situation changes or you switch loyalties in the class struggle, you can cancel your donation at any time you choose to.
If you are not in a position to make a big pledge, even $5.00 or $10.00 a month will help us a great deal but, on the other hand, we are not setting any limits. Eccentric millionaires and capitalists who want to betray their class are welcome to send us cheques with lots of zeroes on them.
